Why JM Environmental for Mold Remediation?
Mold has quickly become a leading health hazard in our buildings in recent years. According to the CA Department of Health Services, molds are simple, microscopic organisms found virtually everywhere. The following sources of indoor moisture can contribute to mold growth in a structure:
- Flooding
- Backed-up sewers
- Leaky roofs
- Humidifiers
- Combustion appliances not exhausted to the outdoors
|
- Damp basements or crawl spaces
- Constant plumbing leaks
- Houseplants
- Shower/bath steam and leaks
- Clothes dryer vented indoors

It is common to find mold spores in the air of buildings and growing on damp surfaces. However, mold spores become a health problem when they enter the air and are inhaled in large number. Furthermore, the number of spores it takes to make a person sick varies from person to person; for some people, a relatively small number of spores can cause health problems, while it may take many more for others.
This means there are very few guidelines as to what is an acceptable amount of mold. The simplest approach is: if you can see or smell mold, you have a mold problem.
Unless the source of moisture is removed and the contaminated area properly cleaned and disinfected, mold growth is likely to reoccur.
During the cleaning stage of mold, the risk of exposure is highest. In fact, mold counts can be 1,000 times higher than background levels during the cleaning stage of mold damaged materials. To further illustrate the health hazard, one square inch of moldy drywall contains up to 10,000,000 mold spores.
Understanding the types of mold, how it is formed, air movements in a building, types of materials affected by mold, the best equipment to use and many other factors contribute to getting rid of a mold problem safely and efficiently. We consistently follow and stay up to date on the latest guidelines for the proper removal of mold, and train our employees to ensure their safety as well as our customers. Our customer’s satisfaction and providing a safe environment are our primary goals. |
